Recently I picked up a sample of two Nars products, their “All Day Luminous Weightless” foundation and the “Pro Prime Pore Refining” primer! I have been wanting to try the foundation for a while now, but after hearing so many mixed reviews I thought that it was defiantly safer to get a sample, allowing me to try it out myself rather than taking the plunge on a $70 foundation! I still can’t believe that it is $70AUD in Mecca Maxima, I thought that my $50AUD Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation was expensive!
Whilst I was asking for a sample the girl working suggested trailing the primer as well as she said they were a great combination together! As she was wearing the foundation herself and combined it with the pro prime from Nars I thought why not considering it was just a sample, but knowing me, this will result in more money spent in Mecca, well played ladies!
Nars – All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation “Fiji – Light 5”:
This foundation has received mixed reviews overall, and I can’t say that either review had truly convinced me. So I couldn’t feel comfortable buying a foundation being $70AUD that had such varying views on it. I picked up a sample from Mecca and applied it on my first day of University holidays!
I have to say I was so impressed by this foundation! My mother and my boyfriend both commented on how nice my skin looked, and I was loving the coverage, I don’t think it is as high coverage as everybody claims as I found with one thin layer it was no where near enough coverage for my personal preference.
Positives:
- The coverage was very build able, easy to achieve a full coverage.
- Didn’t look cakey.
- Large shade range.
- Natural finish.
- Satin – Demi Matte finish.
- Feels light on the skin.
- Doesn’t have SPF (as far as I am aware, I tried to find out and couldn’t find anything), so there would be no flashback in photos
Negatives:
- Dried quite quickly, so apply in small amounts.
- Expensive
- No SPF (no sun protection)
As you can probably tell from my positive and negatives list I really enjoyed this foundation and will probably end up picking it up at some point in the future, but I am currently trying to focus on my wardrobe rather than my makeup collection!
Nars – Pro Prime Pore Refining Primer:
This primer is silicone based, which I don’t normally love, but I have really been enjoying this primer, in combination with the foundation and also with other foundations! This has helped pro long the wear of all of my foundations I have tried it with and has improved the appearance of both pores and just general smoothing look of my skin. I think this primer is a really great multi-purpose primer that would work under a majority of foundations!
