Today’s brand focus post is a look at Weleda a skincare company created in 1921 by Rudolf Stenier, and ever since has been a fantastic example of responsible skincare and sustainability, without compromising on the quality of the product. I was first introduced to Weleda in September last year at the Sydney Bloggers United Australia event, in which there was a presentation speech discussing Weleda, their products, values and history. I found the speech very interesting as it is such a long running skincare brand, having been operating for almost 100 years, which is an achievement in its self!
None of Weleda’s products are tested on animals, and all products are suitable for vegetarians, but as for vegan product only users, I cannot comment, as I believe that it may be a case of investigating individual products in order to see if they are suitable. Weleda focuses on a holistic approach to skincare, and I believe that while being naturally based products, everything I have tried from the range speaks for its self, with every product I have tried being a testament that skincare products do not need additives and preservatives to be fantastic products.
So with all this being said, I have tried Weleda products, and have adored everything I have tried.
Firstly I tried both the ‘Skin Food’ & ‘Almond Sensitive Skin Hand Cream’. Both products come in squeeze tube style packaging, with screw on lids.
Skin Food is their oldest product and has not been changed since the inception of Weleda, as it was the second product released from the brand. I recommend using Skin Food on any rough areas such as hands, feet, elbows and knee’s or any other excessively dry areas. However, this product can be used on any area of the body, and is wildly popular as a facial moisturiser and primer for makeup.
I also used the ‘Almond Hand Cream’ which is focused on being comfortable for sensitive skin, this is a gorgeous hand cream that has a mild scent, but is not overpowering by any means. What I love most about this product is that it sinks in quickly to the skin, not leaving a residue or heavy feeling on the skin after application. This product leaves my skins feel plump and hydrated.
The next three products from Weleda that I have used are three products that I received in the mail today, but have used each of them, so this aspect is more of a first impressions about the three products.
‘Evening Primrose’ this oil based product is designed for helping mature skin reactivate cell renewal designed to revitalise mature skin, helping mature skin appear younger and helping to prevent further appearance of ageing. This product is oil based, but has a milky appearance, which makes it feel extra hydrating, and doesn’t have as much of an oily feel as a traditional facial oil. I think this will be the perfect night time skincare treat.
‘Pomegranate Regenerating Hand Cream’ this hand cream is very similar to the almond based hand cream that I spoke about above. Pomegranate is one of my personal favourite scents, so for that reason alone, this is a real winner in my eyes. This hand cream feels slightly more moisturising in comparison to the almond hand cream, but still absorbs quickly. So if you are looking for a hand cream and love sweet, fruity scent, then I cannot recommend this one enough.
The last item I have to discuss is the ‘Nail Care Pen’ which I personally think is a genius creation by Weleda, it is cuticle oil, in the form of a pen, with a brush tip applicator. This cuticle oil is also infused with pomegranate, so more pomegranate in my life, is always a bonus. The cuticle oil its self is very hydrating, but doesn’t leave a residue that is uncomfortable, and absorbs quickly allowing for application to be a pleasant experience. I think the convenience of this product is a total stand out to any other cuticle oil that I have heard of on the market currently.
