You may or not be able to tell from my top five fragrances that I am a bit of a perfume snob, I blame my Mother who used to spray Chanel No. 5 on my teddy bear as a child because that is her signature scent. It is something that I would rather have less of than have a large collection of cheaper scents. It is definitely a personal preference, but I really do not have much interest in celebrity fragrances that seem to be everywhere in the fragrance world. I love floral scents, and you may notice that the majority have musk as the base note, something that I find vital to balance out any sweet or floral scent, adding a level of sophistication.
While I try my hardest to be able to describe the scents, I really always recommend spraying a scent on your own skin to see how the notes interact with your skin chemistry and PH. All the following scents are all long lasting and I do not believe that any perfume is worth buying if it does not last well on the skin. I do not mention it for each scent, but all five last beautifully on my skin and do not become absent mid way through the day.
Givenchy Paris – Dahlia Divin:
This is the newest of my favourite fragrances, but I already love without shame. It is the perfect scent for spring and it has quite a feminine scent, without being too sweet or floral. The sandalwood in the perfume really brings it back from becoming too floral or sweet, and makes it more wearable.
Notes: Mirabelle, Jasmine, White Florals, Patchouli, Sandalwood & Vetiver.
Dior – J’adore:
This is a lovely transitional scent that can be worn either day or night and it doesn’t feel inappropriate for either times, which is something that can be quite difficult in a scent. I think it has that perfect blend of floral and musk, to create a really classic scent that I have loved for over 4 years now.
Notes: Sweet Pea, Peony, Violet, Champaca, Magnolia & Musk.
Dior – Miss Dior:
This is probably the sweetest of the perfumes, and as you can see from the notes, this has the largest floral contingency, and the mandarin definitely adds some sweetness. This screams spring and summer to me, and feels so fresh and light on the skin.
Notes: Mandarin, Jasmine, Rose, Patchouli & Musk.
Chloe – Original:
A perfume that I hunted for some time, it is a very popular scent and I totally see why, it has a classic mix of sweet and heavier floral scents, balanced out with musk, meaning that it doesn’t stray into smelling like spray on candy. I love this scent and always find myself being complimented when I wear this. Such a gorgeous scent that I really can never pass up and one that I think is a real crowd favourite.
Notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Magnolia, White Rose, Gardenia, Rose, Cotton Flower & Musk.
Dior – Hypnotic Poison:
This is the only scent of the group that I would describe as a ‘sexy’ scent, it smells deep and has very little floral to it which makes it quite different from my other perfumes, but I still really enjoy this perfume, especially for something different, when I don’t feel like floral or sweet scents.
Notes: Liquorice, Almond, Jasmine, Organe Blossom, Tonka Bean, Vanilla Bean.
Thank you very much for reading, I hope you have enjoyed this post, I just love perfume! Please let me know what your favourite fragrance is or even a couple, as I always love trying new ones! x
