Whilst I currently have normal to oily skin, I once had very oily skin and found that I was constantly needing to powder my skin, this resulted in appearing a lot cakier and my makeup appearing heavy and dull. This was never the look I wanted to achieve, but since discovering the below products I learnt that I could minimise the oils on my face, and increase the wear time of my makeup, without having to compromise on a skin like appearance.
Now I love looking dewy and fresh in my makeup, but I also want to be able to wear my foundation for a full day without it breaking down off my face from not being set. So enter the ‘non powdery, powders’. These products all have a special place in my makeup collection.
MAC – Fix Plus Spray:
A clever old spray that has been around for as long as I can remember. It’s a classic spray that has helped so many people to not look powdery or cakey, perfect when used as a light spritz over the face to allow all powders to absorb into the skin. This will not help with makeup longevity, but it will be helpful in decreasing the powder look on the skin.
LAURA MERCIER – Translucent Powder:
This powder is an entity in the beauty world of it’s own, I cannot recall another powder receiving this kind of sustained attention. It is my favourite from the list, and what I think is a truly beautiful powder that allows for a skin like look, whilst assisting the longevity of my makeup wear. I also love this for baking the undereye area as it never becomes cakey, heavy or appears dull. Cannot recommend enough for any oily makeup wearer who wants to be able to look natural, whilst minimising appearance and impact of oils.
RCMA MAKEUP – No Colour Powder:
Ah the powder that got crazy amounts of attention trying to usurp the above mentioned Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, this is my everyday powder, it gives LM a run for her money, but just doesn’t quite tick the same boxes the above does. However, it is a lovely
HOURGLASS – Ambient Lighting Powder ‘Dim Light’:
It’s as if Hourglass compacted luminous skin into a clever little compact, how they did it, I don’t know, but they did it and my skin thanks Hourglass Cosmetics each and every time I wear it. I adore the finish of this powder and how well it makes my skin look luminous, but does not make it look greasy.
