Priceline is a staple in any beauty lovers shopping habits, the stores are typically easily accessible in most Australian shopping centres and with the two variants of Priceline stores being their Priceline Pharmacies and their general Priceline stores, there is so much to love about this incredible brand. I was lucky enough to attend the recent Priceline Beauty Prescription Live event which is held biannually by the Priceline PR team as a summit of media and bloggers to discuss all things new and upcoming at Priceline.
Being fortunate enough to attend this event I thought I would discuss some of the upcoming products, some of the exciting insights we were given, and share some of my favourite images of the day. As always please to do not infer this as some bizarre form of bragging, but being the Internet I do have to always include a disclaimer because most things seem to incur some form of criticism regardless of the intentions. I want to share the experience with you all, because without your interaction with this website or my social media platforms, I would not be privy to these kinds of events.
There was an excellent presentation at the beginning of the morning regarding the statistics of the sales histories of the Priceline stores in Australia. It was interesting hearing some of the offical statistics, and most weren’t of a huge surprise if you’re a beauty enthusiast.
One that I found very interesting that within the top 10 Skincare products sold in the last six months that the Biore pore strips filled 3 of the 10 spots. I think it’s very interesting that so many skincare users are obviously dissatisfied with their pores and the appearance of blackheads, I fall into this category personally, but haven’t had much luck with any of the Biore strips I’ve tried, but I continue to persevere until I find my perfect way to extract those pesky nose blackheads.
Within the beauty category there were some interesting figures as well, such as the Primer sector in Priceline has noticed a 15% increase in sales and a larger range being stocked in Priceline brands due to the increased demand, as they say ‘Not To Prime Is A Crime’ is obviously being taken more seriously by the Australian beauty consumer.
As it was last time I attend the Priceline Beauty Prescription Live, Nude By Nature loose mineral powder is still the most sold product in Priceline, so that powder doesn’t seem to be loosing it’s cult status any time soon. One that I did think was very interesting was that the NYX Matte Setting Spray was the 10th most popular beauty product in the last 6 months, which is a huge achievement considering that NYX hasn’t been in Priceline stores for more than a year yet.
Shoutout to Australis Cosmetics for having 4 products in the top 10 beauty products, being the largest showing from any brand, always lovely to see an Australian owned, cruelty free brand being so popular with consumers, a huge achievement in such a competitive market place.
Haircare said a lot about the average beauty consumer as Blonde Toning products seemed to rein supreme above all else, 3 of the top 10 haircare products of the last 6 months were products designed to manage blonde hair colouring, which may be no surprise considering Australia’s typically love for the Blonde look. No surprises that 5 of the products were hair sprays which is to be expected as they are a staple in most peoples hair regime. Another interesting point out of the hair care category was the obvious brand domination, Fudge had 2 products, Tresemme had 3, OGX scoring with 1 and Schwarzkopf out doing them all with with 4 in the top 10. Interesting to see that 4 brands dominated the top 10 products so comfortably. Looks like other haircare brands have a standard to follow.
Within the fragrance range, it’s no surprise that celebrity created perfumes were the favourites amongst consumers in the top 10, they are an affordable alternative to an industry that is normally known for being pricey, making them slightly elitist. The celebrity market allows the younger generation of consumers to involve themselves in the market. Katy Perry was the clear stand out for the top 10, with 4 fragrances. Another obvious statement is that David Beckham is the main choice for the male genre of cologne, with Beckham having 2 places and being the only ‘masculine’ inclusions in the top 10.
As well as learning about the fabulous statistics behind the Priceline consumers, there was also a trade show set up with booths displaying brands and suppliers new and upcoming products or describing some much loved staples in their range. As a beauty blogger this is an excellent way to identify new and upcoming trends, and trial products before they are available on the market. Always a highlight and always filled with exciting new innovations from brands and suppliers or their PR agencies.
In addition to discussing new releases, many brands also have truly incredible displays and I truly believe they should be commended for taking so much pride in their brands presentation, and they also make for some really beautiful photos, see below.
