As someone who changes up their skincare routine and products really often, I thought it was an interesting concept to use the same products for a week straight, which might not seem that exciting to the general public, but was actually a challenge for me.
Vitamin C is a cult favourite product in the skincare community and has a wide variety of uses and benefits. So when Clinique approach me to join in with their 7-Day Pure Vitamin C challenge in which both their cleanser and vitamin c booster are the hero products, I was really excited to try both, and see how they worked in conjunction with my skin and concerns and issues. I had never used the powder cleanser before but had used the booster sporadically from time to time.
Clinique Fresh Pressed 7-Day System With Pure Vitamin C $45AUD:
Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto Replenishing Hydrator $60-75AUD:
Both products are available from Clinique’s online store and Mecca Maxima and Sephora. I’ve included direct links to the Clinique website to make it a little bit easier to check out the products, these are not affiliate links.
The challenge involved using the ‘Fresh Pressed Renewing Powder Cleanser with Pure Vitamin C’ once a day, and using the ‘Fresh Pressed Daily Booster With Pure Vitamin C 10%’ twice a day when mixed in with a moisturiser, I chose to use the Clinique ‘Moisture Surge 72Hour Hydrator’ as I love that as a general moisturiser and thought it was best to use Clinique products as brands own products often work best when used together.
Both products are super easy to use and found that it wasn’t difficult to incorporate into my daily skincare routine. The powder cleanser was perfect for travelling and was really fantastic when I stayed at a friends place, as all I needed to was mix a little water with the powder and create a light lather over the skin, and then voila, clean and fresh skin. I did use this as the second cleanser in a double cleanse, after using my Face Halo, so I didn’t use this cleanser as a makeup remover, but purely as a cleanser.
The Vitamin C booster was again really easy to use, and I applied my moisture surge moisturiser in large dots over my skin, and then squeezed the booster into my palm and used it to mix the booster into the moisturiser and make sure that it was all absorbed into the skin. This is an easy little addition to a daily skincare routine and didn’t make my moisturiser feel heavier, or any different at all.
I definitely did notice an improvement in my skin after the seven days, and would really recommend it for anyone who is looking to make small changes in their skin without having to fork out the money for a consistent facial treatment routine which can become pricey.
My skin felt noticeably softer and smoother, which really surprised me. As someone with quite rough texture on my lower cheeks, I wasn’t really expecting much of a difference with my texture while using these products, however, that was probably the most noticeable difference.
I would say my redness was slightly improved over the week, but not dramatically, but have noticed an improvement in my redness when using Vitamin C more consistently than 7 days. My skin did look brighter and more refined overall, and just generally fresher.
Overall, I was very happy with how my skin looked at the end of the 7-Day challenge and would describe the difference as looking overall brighter, which was a lovely way to start the warm weather in Australia. I’ve included the image of my before and after without makeup and without any filter or editing, from the same position in my room in front of the same window with natural lighting.
I think that this challenge is a really clever way to rejuvenate the skin and refresh, especially if you have a special occasion coming up and want to look your best for. I have also found that I feel more comfortable not wearing makeup now since using the Vitamin C 7-Day system. Clinique skincare has been a favourite of mine for a long time now, and I really do recommend the moisture surge hydrator regardless if you are planning on using the Vitamin C range as well or not as it is a fabulous moisturizer and one of my favourites.
I definitely noticed a difference in my skin over the 7 days and was so pleasantly surprised in how soft my rough texturing became after the challenge, very pleasantly surprised as I didn’t think I’d notice much of a difference in my skin considering how dedicated I am to my skincare routine all year round.
