Brand Focus

BRAND FOCUS: Marc Jacobs Beauty.

Marc Jacobs Beauty is a heavily coveted and much talked about beauty brand which is available in Sephora worldwide, while I don’t personally appreciate some comments that Mr Jacobs has made in the past I can’t help but love the products that the brand creates.

One thing that I’ve been very impressed by with the Marc Jacobs Beauty range is their base products, and I’ve found that there hasn’t been anything from the brand that I haven’t liked. That being kept in mind, I do love the products, but cannot ignore that they all come with quite the price tag which can scare some people off, understandably. However, I think it’s just more important to do a little bit of research into products first and then make sure they sound like something that you will more than likely enjoy before purchasing.

So, below are products that I’ve used from the brand, and what I think about each product. I haven’t tried everything from the brand, and there are still lots on my wishlist, so please let me know if there’s anything you’ve tried and think is worth a splurge, or even if you think there is a dud worth skipping.

All products are currently available from Sephora and are in stock at Sephora Australia. All pricing is in Australian Dollars. I’ve also included the shades that I have in each product.

While the Re-Markable foundation may be the most popular, I personally have really been enjoying this foundation from the brand as it’s a really beautiful medium coverage buildable foundation. I’ve done a full foundation review of this product, and have been super impressed with it. If you have oily skin I think good skin prep and a really mattifying primer will be key, but probably would recommend getting a sample of this for anyone to see how it works with your skin.

Honestly, I never thought I would be able to comfortably recommend such an expensive bronzer to anyone, but it is such a gorgeous bronze shade and there really is so much product in this that I can semi-justify it. This product was originally limited edition but I believe it’s been made permanent after being so wildly popular. The formula is really smooth, and lasts all day on the skin, while it is a matte shade it doesn’t look muddy or really heavy on the skin, but can be built up rather than needing to be sheered out later. This bronzer has quickly overtaken the others in my collection and has become an everyday use for me, lucky it’s so big!

Another super popular product from Marc Jacobs Beauty and I always see people loving this mascara online. This is my second or third tube I’m not sure, but I’ve really been enjoying this mascara for a while now. It has a big natural fibre brush which is my personal preference in regards to mascara wands. This one is a gem and adds a nice mixture of lengthening, volumising and a really black shade too which is a series need for me personally with such fair lashes.

Moisturising primers are something that I love especially throughout winter, but having combination skin means that I normally go for something a little longer wearing in the Summertime. For anyone with really dry skin all year round, then this could be the perfect moisturising primer that also smells like yummy tropical coconuts. Very similar to the Too Faced Hangover RX primer, so if you’ve loved that one then you’ll love this one too.

Blush to me is something that should be a subtle addition to any look, rather than being the main event. This is obviously personal preference, but I find that you can create either style of look with these blushes as the entire range is an ombre with two shades in stripes, therefore depending on how you blend the blush depends on how intense the colour is. The names are super cheeky and very high fashion, my favourite shade is ‘Lines & Last Night’ because of the mixture of peach and pink which looks really natural on my skin tone.

A product that you never knew you needed until you start using it, such a cream stick highlight formula that is super easy to use. I love that this doesn’t disrupt any foundation or base products used, but still gives a really gorgeous highlight to the skin. I love the shade of this on my skin but can definitely see that is limited in the range of skin tones that can use this product. I recommend using this under powder products after foundation and concealer and it still shines through in the most beautifully ‘lit from within’ way.

I love that these highliners are available in both gel and matte formulas, meaning that you can create so many different looks, and with 19 shades there definitely something that suits every look. Personally, I find these really creamy and easy to use, but as someone who doesn’t really like crayon style eyeliner pencils, these would be a skip for me personally, unless you’re someone who really loves using a crayon style eyeliner.

If I had to recommend just one or two products from what I’ve tried, it would have to be the ‘Glow Stick’ & ‘Tantastic’ bronzer.

Things on my wishlist:

  1. Limited Edition ‘O!Mega Highlighter’ – the gold packaging is stunning and the actual highlight looks gorgeous too!
  2. Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter – love liquid highlighters to mix into a foundation, and both shades of this look gorgeous!
  3. Re-Markable foundation – amazing full coverage, highly concentrated foundation.

As always, thank you for reading, and please let me know if you have any favourites from the brand that you think are a must to check out!
