Sunscreen is a product that should be taken very seriously by all, especially anyone like myself living in Australia with some serious UV coming down under. Also being a fair skinned, freckle prone with English skin, I need to be especially careful in regards to sun protection, and SPF 50+ is key to ensuring that my skin is protected.
Melanoma is the most common cancer in Young Australian’s aged 15-39 which I fit snugly into, so it is very important to be careful regarding sun exposure on the daily. All of this being in mind, one of my 2019 intentions (I set a lot at the end of each year) was to ensure that I’m wearing at least facial sunscreen everyday.
Luckily there are so many specific facial sunscreens on the market that are targeted sun protection without clogging pores, making the skin feel greasy or affecting makeup wear.
I’ve collated together my favourite facial sunscreen’s below, and really recommend using any of them daily to prevent sun damage which is one of the most obvious signs of visible ageing on the skin, so look young forever with me and slap on a SPF every morning!
La Roche Posay – Anthelios XL SPF 50+:
La Roche Posay are a fabulous brand targeted towards sensitive skin, which really shows in regards to this sunscreen. This SPF is so thin that even the most sensitive of skin, or most irritable wearer won’t even notice this on the face. Perfect for people who don’t want to wear anything, but still want sun protection.
La Roche Posay is also a major sponsor of the Australian Open which I have been loving watching through out January.
Invisible Zinc – Sheer Defence SPF 50+:
This is the newest release of all mentioned and one that I love wearing under makeup as there are two tinted shades as well as the un coloured shade that melts into any skin tone. I love the light or medium shade depending on my complexion at the time, or sometimes using the original. I love the feeling of this on my skin, and how it doesn’t feel heavy even in heat.
Avene – Face Emulsion SPF 50+:
Avene is another beautiful skincare brand designed for sensitive skin making it accessible for all to enjoy. It is also 40 minutes water resistant making it perfect to apply before going into the water for a Summer swim, and then enough time to enjoy a swim or some laps, and then reapplying after to ensure continued sun protection.
La Roche Posay – Anthelios XL Tinted BB Cream SPF 50+:
This has the most coverage of all the facial sunscreens that I’ve mentioned, so it’s perfect for those who want to be able to wear a light BB Cream style coverage, but also has a high SPF sun protection to protect the skin. A really love light coverage but is designed for sensitive skin as well which makes it perfect for those who struggle to wear products without clogging pores or causing breakouts.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, and as always thank you for reading! Please do look after your skin as the sun can be so hard, let me know your favourite sunscreen in the comments.
