There are so many red lipsticks on the market, it can be a little overwhelming to say the very least. I’ve collated my favourite red lip products and tried to use a variety of shades, formula’s and price points so that everyone can enjoy a beautiful red lip.
One thing you may notice is that most of my recommendations are cool toned with a blue undertone, that is what I find flatters my own skin tone, eye colour and complexion best. However, there are so many beautiful warm tone red lip products out there, so please don’t feel that you need to only use blue and cool toned reds, but that’s just my personal preference. As always with everything in regards to makeup, you do you.
Tarteist Lip Paint ‘bae’:
Liquid lipsticks have come and gone I believe in regards to the height of lip product popularity, and a glossier moment has come. However in regards to red lips, I often favour a more matte product. I love the texture of this as it is not as drying a classic liquid lipstick but has relative staying power with a more cream style finish.
Maybelline – Bold Matte ‘6’:
Maybelline lipsticks are some of my favourites, regardless of their affordable price point. The bold matte is definitely a matte product, but manages to still be a comfortable to wear lip product, and comes in a huge variety of shades.
Nudestix – Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil ‘Royal’:
Nudestix lip pencils are some of my favourite lip products, never have I found such a comfortable to wear lip product. I love the applicator as it makes it super easy to fill in the lips quickly, but is also small enough that you are able to delicately apply bolder lip colours.
Giorgio Armani – Ecstasy Shine Lip Cream ‘300 – Play’:
This is by far the most warm tone shade that I’ve selected, and I love this colour because of the formula. If it were an ultra pigmented lipstick, I don’t think I would love this lip product any where near as much, but I love the sheer glossy look. Perfect Spring and Summer shade to uplift any mood.
Lanolips – 101 Ointment ‘Rose Gold’:
Lanolips are just the most beautiful lip products, and are always comfortable to wear, whilst having a really beautiful classic shade range. The rose gold shade has all of their lovely ingredients, whilst giving a really lovely warm shade. Perfect for using on the apple of the cheeks as well for a really natural glow and warmth to the face.
Jeffree Star – Velour Liquid Lipstick ‘Redrum’:
While Jeffree Star may be a controversial figure in the beauty industry, the velour liquid lipsticks were my favourite matte liquid lipsticks for a long time. I love the longevity of these, whilst being quite comfortable on the lips. However, good lip care before hand is really key to making these look good for longer, a good scrub and lip balm will go a long way to making this last a lot better on the lips.
Shu Uemura – Laque Supreme ’02’:
This Shu Uemura lacquer is a perfect lip topper on any of the above mentioned red lip products, or makes a really beautiful more sheer red lip look on it’s own. I love the doe foot applicator and how lovely and glossy this looks on the lips.
The swatches below are in the same order as the lip products are mentioned above, but I have included the order of the swatches again below.

- Jeffree Star.

Thank you for reading as always, and please let me know if you have any red lip favourites that you think everyone needs to know about!
