Bobbi Brown is a brand that I’ve been infatuated with for some time now. I love the simple packaging, the ‘your looks but better’ kind of style the brand seems to emulate. The price point is higher than the average brand, but I love how well thought out the brand’s products are, they aren’t rushed or trendy, meaning they wear flawlessly and never go out of style.
As always, base products are my personal favourites, and the products that I love trying from every brand to get a real sense of the products and the brand. So, I have a couple of products from their range that I’ve been wearing recently, and some thoughts on them all!
Vitamin Enriched Face Base:
I’ve had this product the longest of the four mentioned, and have used it the most extensively. This is such a classic ultra moisturising primer that has a similar feel to a very thick moisturiser. I love wearing this under any foundation, and even using it in conjunction with another primer, as this acts as a lovely hydrating base to apply anything else on top of. My skin looks far healthier and brighter, perfect for days that your skin may be feeling a little dull or lacklustre.
Illuminating Moisture Balm ‘Bare Glow’:
I’ve seen multiple makeup artists and other influencers using this product, and I was desperate to slather it all over my face. Having never used this balm, I initially thought it would be illuminating from the first drop and have a hint of shimmer. However, this becomes an illuminating dream when using two pumps all over the face and applied using fingers to warm the product up. It gives the skin a beautiful gloss and all over glow to the skin. Am currently obsessed with this product, and while I was initially underwhelmed when I applied to the back of my hand, I have been thoroughly impressed when applying it all over the face with my fingers.
Skin Long Wear Weightless Foundation – SPF15 ‘Sand’:
I’ve been loving this foundation, but have not tried the original so cannot offer a comparison between the two. The foundation is a medium coverage that can be built up to full coverage with a bit of light layering. It lasts all day with ease on my normal – dehydrated skin, it is oil-free, so I personally prefer wearing this with a hydrating primer to make my skin look more illuminated as this foundation can run a little matte. Adore the frosted glass, simple packaging and of course that it has a pump.
This shade is probably a little light for me, but as always with a little bronzer, it’s easy to be able to make the shade work. There is 29 shades to the foundations range, which I would personally consider ‘moderate’, better than a lot of foundations, but not as extensive as possible.
EDIT: I have been informed by the PR team that the shade range has been extended to 43 shades in the foundation range as of 7/4/2019 which is fabulous news and I’m so glad to hear that they have increased the shade range!
Instant Full Cover Concealer ‘Warm Ivory’:
The Full Cover Concealer is a newer launch from Bobbi Brown and definitely suits the current climate of huge popularity regarding full coverage concealers. The wand is the most unusual part of this concealer as it isn’t a typical doe foot applicator, and the end is really the only part that can apply the concealer, but I recommend using it in an upward motion when applying under the eyes.
The coverage is medium to full and can easily be built up, it wears beautifully under the eye and doesn’t crease excessively, it also feels comfortable on the skin after a long period and doesn’t crack which is always appreciated.
In case it wasn’t blatantly obvious, I have been loving all four Bobbi Brown products, and find that they feel that little bit more luxurious than other base products on the market. I have been blown away by the Illuminating Moisture Balm and Skin Long Wear Weightless foundation together, and have actually been using all four products in conjunction and I think I’ve found my new favourite glowy base range.
I haven’t used other foundation’s or concealers from Bobbi Brown so I can’t offer a comparison of how the products compare to each other. I think the foundation would suit a variety of skin types, as it can be worn as a more matte foundation or when used with the right primers it can be made more dewy and glowy.
