& I’m back!
It’s been a really hectic couple of months, both professionally and in my personal life, but as the dusts settles, I need a little more routine and to get back into my groove.
Not only my groove with my website and social media, but also my groove in regards to eating more consistently healthy, sticking to my 80/20 principle, but also working out, and just a better routine with my general productivity, which has severely dipped lately.
So reading, that’s another routine that needs to be re-established. I have a quick confession too, I can confirm that last year one of my resolutions was to read more, and I didn’t pick up a single book until December 2019.
However, as big believer in not beating yourself up over things when they don’t go quite to plan, I’m considering it baby steps, rather than a failure. As chance my have it, the book reignited my love for reading, and has given me a new found drive to focus on it more this year, and hopefully build on last years roaring success of reading one whole book!
My Reading List Reccomendations:
Eggshell Skull – Bri Lee:
The book that reignited my love for reading! While I haven’t been much of a reader lately, I did used to enjoy reading, but have always found myself far more inclined to tuck into a nonfiction book with at least some basis on real life. Bri Lee recounts her own experience as a young lawyer in the Queensland legal system, whilst also dealing with her own childhood sexual abuse trauma.
While I found this book to be incredible, I would strongly recommend reader discretion as it could be triggering to anyone with their own abuse trauma.
The Four Agreements –
I have a confession, but I am not completely finished with this book, but have been thoroughly enjoying it, and have found that I have been able to reflect a little bit on myself whilst reading this. It was a best friend recommendation so of course I had to give this a try, recommend if you’re looking for something that’s a little bit self help, but more practical.
An Edited Life – Anna Newton
Cannot recommend this book enough, I wouldn’t describe this as a book, but more of a guide. One that I very sincerely recommend to anyone who wants a bit of an organisational fresh start, sometimes a good kick start is all it takes and I think this is a really fabulous read for anybody looking to establish some better habits, routines or organisation systems.
B Model – Miranda Darling:
This is described as an ’embellished memoir’ but it’s a book that I’ve honestly adored every time I read it. Definitely not new to my collection, but one that I’ve always treasured. It follows a coming of age story of a young girl who accidentally became a model, but realised that it wasn’t quite as glamorous as it appears.
Playing the field – Zoe Foster:
One of my favourite ‘easy’ reads. Super quick and easy to read, very believable classic love story premise, and Zoe is such an engaging writer and someone that I find so enjoyable to read. Definitely not a hard hitting book or one that is going to necessarily change your life, but very enjoyable, and especially in the current climate.

Atomic Habits – James Clear:
I feel like this book has gone a little viral lately, and like a lot of people are reading this or at least it seems to be everywhere in regards to my social media. I have been enjoying this so far and find that James is an engaging author from what I’ve read so far.
I try to only read one book at a time, because otherwise I find that I get distracted and then end up not reading anything. I thought this list would be quite well timed as I understand so many people are spending far more time at home currently with so many people sadly experiencing unemployment, WFH situations and obviously those being responsible and practising social distancing and following the ‘stay home’ movement to help flatten the curve.
